There was a birthday party today.

and a rainbow.

and the clouds parted

and the sky cleared up

and we all stood

on my aunts front lawn,

as a man

in an Elmo costume

entertained the little ones

to the sounds of

"Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes"

and for a few brief moments,

I was safe,and I was happy...

and all was right in the world
